I am now finally playing The Wizard of Oz Beyond the Yellow Brick Road for the Nintendo DS. XSEED brought this gem of a game over from Japan, which was originally titled RIZ-ZOAWD.
This is a simplistic RPG that is deceptively battle tough on certain enemies. I’m having some fun with it and really enjoying the soundtrack.
The Wizard of Oz theme song is sung by the great Kaori Asoh, who has voiced her share of video game characters and also sung a few other famous video game theme songs such as the Wild Arms video game series.
Kaori has a somewhat outdated website HERE, but her official blog is very current and worth checking out. The japanese soundtrack to RIZ-ZOAWD is available through play-asia.com and has 40 awesome tracks.
Hear Kaori Asoh sing in the youtube clip below:

Attention all Phantasy Star Phreaks. Phantasy Star Zero is hitting the Nintendo Ds on November 10th, 2009 and sure to turn you into an MMORPG zombie!
Sega of America still hasn’t taken their full site live, but you can see screenshots currently on the Phantasy Star Zero website.
For some live action footage, you currently need to watch some of the japanese version on youtube. See below:
The fact that this is totally wifi enabled should be a big selling point and probably make the game an instant hit.
You can preorder from ebgames right now at the $34.99 price point.
I wish I could say this was a review, but I’ve only had KH for 1 day. So here are my first impressions.
Long introduction. Check.
Utada theme song. Check.
Lots of cutscreens. Check.
When do we play again? Huh? Check.
After about 20 minutes it was time to actually start the game tutorial missions. I was curious to see if this 3-d KH would feel like the Ps2 version and surprisingly.. it does. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days plays pretty much the same way as the Ps2 version. Wielding the keyblade is pretty much just like your Ps2 controls. It was not hard to get back into the groove of collecting munies and hearts.
I”m over an hour in and I’m still doing tutorial missions, so I’m assuming this KH game is going to be a time killer.
Don’t bother with the stylus. I haven’t found a good reason to use it yet.
I’m guessing the Nintendo Ds is probably big in missions and side quests, so it will hold my attention for most of the fall. I did not elect to buy the big hint book at Gamestop. So either pity me or laugh at my attempt at failure.
Anyway, my first impressions are that this is the real Kingdom Hearts only minitured for the Nintendo Ds and I’m glad to get back to some keyblade action.
And yes I put that Kingdom Hearts poster up in my office. I’m just that nerdy.
The Tokyo Game Show has a lot of great games. And a lot of great trailers for games, but nothing is more beautiful and nothing is more anticipated than Level 5′s Ninokuni for the Nintendo Ds. Anew trailer was released at TGS2009 and it will make your jaw drop. Remember, this is going to be an RPG game and the animation will blow you away.

XSEED Games is one of my favorite video game companies as they bring over great Japanese games into the U.S. market. And I am very happy they are bringing Wizard of Oz over. It’s an RPG! And its a localization of the Japanese game RIZ-ZOAWD. And it comes out the same time as Kingdom Hearts.. DOH! Well I’m going to see if my wife can snatch this game up for me for my birthday because I’ve been drooling over this game for almost a year.
The Website for the Wizard of Oz is live and it is very nice. Great downloadable wallpapers too. And check out this trailer to the game. Doesn’t it look beautiful?
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva is Not a Kanye West tribute album to the nintendo Puzzle game but it is actually a full-length Movie coming out on December 19th in Japan as I found out by visiting Kotaku.com
I am super excited as the attached trailer looks extremely great. Full of flying helicopter planes, masked henchmen and swordfighting, it looks like Professor Layton is at it again!
I clicked on it and you should too!

Ok. I really was going to wait on getting Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS, but I just finished Professor Layton and I had a $25 Best Buy card burning a hole in my wallet.
So I picked up Scribblenauts and it is a very easy concept. Write whatever you can think of and use that item to help you obtain a star. The game is pretty amazing.
But as a Father, I must say, this is a game you must get. If you get a chance, play this game with your child and give them the chance to solve these puzzles. You’d be surprised at what clever ideas they come up with.
My son is almost 4 years old and loves monster trucks and cars and racing and anything with wheels. It’s just a great pleasure making these vehicles appear in a game upon his wish. Unfortunately the monster truck I created could not jump up a hill as we had hoped, but we were able to climb the big wheel of the truck to obtain the starite of which we coveted!
We used a race car to jump a ramp, and we failed trying to skate down the hill in a baby carriage.
Scribblenauts is a great way to spark the imagination in your child and I recommend parents getting a game like this where you can spend time with you kids, having fun, learning and just being creative. Scribblenauts is totally a must-buy for nintendo ds owners.
…And that my friends makes 100 POSTS in this little blog. Hope you all come back to see what else I’ll check out next!

Scribblenauts is a nintendo ds game that is probably going to be a contender for game of the year. And yet I’m still on the fence on buying it. I know it is going to be awesome, but releasing it the same month as Kingdom Hearts is a tough sell. EBgames has it listed for $29.99, yet I think if it drops to $25, that is when more people will buy this game.
Anyway, I will get this before christmas that is for sure, as the game does look awesomely fun. Check out the Scribblenauts website for great images and gameplay. Any game where you can type in anything you want and play via your imagination should be extremely fun.
Below is a youtube video of the game in action.
Looks like Nostalgia for the Nintendo DS (previewed here) has finally nailed down their release date for October 20th 2009.
READ about it HERE.
That should give me enough time to play through Kingdom Hearts 358/2.
gamestop items (from website)
Have you seen the neat extras you can get if you preorder Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the Nintendo Ds at Gamestop?
If you preorder the game which comes out on Sept 29th, 2009, you can get a limited poster and four bonus cards that look really cool.
The cards are postcards that you can actually mail out (should you actually wish to depart with these pretty things).
This is another one of those Nintendo DS titles that I just can’t miss out on, and after playing KH1 and KH2 it will be fun to find out what happened inbetween the two games.
Visiting Square Enix’s website, they haven’t fully updated their website, but I’m expecting more information to follow in the next couple of weeks as we get closer to launchdate.
Currently you can see the characters, which include Riku, Mickey Mouse, Xion, Roxas, and Axel.
You can Watch the trailer for the video game below.
