GLIM SPANKY is blues rock with a side of funk crafted to perfection under two shining stars: the fabulous and sexy lead singer Matsuo Remi and the guitarist Kamemoto Kiroki.
Together this duo will set blues rock on fire. Their single “ダミーロックとブルース” is one stiff drink and an 8 ball in the corner pocket bar jukebox blast. You feel it from the beginning. B-b-b-b-b-b-badass.
If you are a music freak, you’ll freak for GLIM SPANKY’s album.. also called Music Freak out 12.4.2013 at CDJapan and Yesasia.

Satoshi Noguchi goes deep into blues territory with “Makeinu” before exploding in electric guitar rock.
What starts with a deep voice and heavy acoustic chords busts into feedback and noise rock all while maintaining that dark bluesy feel. “Makeinu” also benefits from some killer harmonica too.
Great single.. Become an underdog and sniff out Makeinu on 10.9.2013 at CDJapan and Yesasia.

Eri Takenaka gets country bluesy in her excellent single “Doushitemo.” Her dialogue driven vocals, the piano and guitar working great together, and some faint female backup vocals turn this into a wonderful country ride. Love it!

Two guys who look a like sitting at a desk. They might be twin brothers or something, and they horse around like brothers do. How long before they f*** that sheep sitting beside their desk? Oh about the 3 minute mark they give it a good once over.
The video is silly but S.R.S’s pop rock single “Higher Ground” is great fun and turns almost bluesy by the end of the song. Give it a good listen and look for the single out 4.18.2012 from CDJapan.

Watch out for sandtraps because Golf has thrown up a performance video for “Hatfield 1980,” a cover song from Everything But the Girl.
Gotta love their version that works a bluesy techno vibe that just spreads like peanut butter. Smooth. You need to taste this. There are tempo changes and knob tweaks and it’s a funky guitar jam session by the time the track ends.
Play through Golf’s official website for the back 9.
Get a mouthful of candy and listen to the very sweet sounds of Shanti. Her very unique single “Candy” is a mixture of blue grass, twang, and blues and soul. Shanti also sings with an almost yodel that is jaw-droppingly awesome.

Yoichi Aoyama’s standing tall in his trailer for his new album Blues for Tomato. In fact, it’s lots of posing, and holding tomatoes. But the good news is that we get to hear some songs off the album and they are indeed Blues-y and funky.
What is great, is that the album is out now as it was released 10.17.2011. Grab it at Yesasia or CDJapan.

Flying Kids with the help of Yamada Masashi (Back Horn) slow the tempo with a sort of bluesy wacka wacka track in “Itoshisa no Naka De.” We just get a clip, but it’s enough to see the guys hang out and just play.
The album Life Works Journey was released 9/21/2011. Both Yesasia and CDJapan have it, so check it out.

We get the regular video for Superfly’s 14th single “Ai wo Kurae” without all the movie footage from Smuggler Omae no Mirai wo Hakobe. The more I hear this song the more it sounds like it could have been used in the Cowboy Bebop anime. Very very bluesy.
Also in this PV, Superfly wears a hat and with her long hair, she looks like a warlock. Or an Edgar Allen Poe disciple.. or something spooky.
Buy the single Ai wo Kurae from CDJapan or Yesasia out 10.12.2011.
