DoiMoi is a japanese nerd-metal dark grunge band that are pretty darn good. They cite bands like Soundgarden, King’s X, Foo Fighters and Helmet as influences. For that reason, this is one cool ass band.
They have songs off their new album Dialectic and Apocalypse available on their myspace to listen to, and the first song Olympic is such a crunchy old school grunge sound that I simply love it. There are harmonies as well so I wouldn’t exactly call them metal, but their melding of musical influences create an awesome sound.
Digging further into their website, they link to their purevolume website, where more songs off the new album can be found. “Tiny Bird”, “Stiffener” and “quotation” can all be streamed.
I strongly recommend checking out some of these songs, Doimoi is great!
